Marion County Commissioners Appoint Schneider to Board of Directors

January 20, 2026 //  by MCBDD

The Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities (MCBDD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Todd Schneider as its newest board member. With more than two decades of experience in education, leadership, public service, and community engagement, Schneider brings a wealth of expertise and a strong passion for supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.

Outside of a couple of years at Triad Local High School, Schneider has spent his career at Marion City Schools in a variety of capacities. Schneider currently serves as Head Principal at Marion Harding High School, a role he has held since 2025. In this position, he provides comprehensive leadership for school operations and the implementation of key initiatives, including the school’s safety plan. His experience creating a student-centered master schedule and facilitating district- and building-level leadership teams further highlights his commitment to thoughtful, strategic decision-making.

In addition to his educational leadership, Schneider has an extensive record of public service. He served three terms as President of Marion City Council, where he oversaw parliamentary procedure, set legislative agendas, supervised the Clerk of Council, and fulfilled mayoral duties in the mayor’s absence. From 2023–2025, he also served as a mentor in the OAESA Beginning Administrator Program, successfully guiding two new administrators as they advanced in their careers.

Schneider’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education and Social Studies from Urbana University; a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton; CBI Certification from The Ohio State University; and Superintendent Licensure from Bowling Green State University. He also maintains OTES, OPES, and OSCES certifications.

“The Marion County Board of DD collaborates closely with our local educators. Having Todd’s long history in education, along with his passion for people and the Marion Community, makes him the perfect fit,” Cheryl Plaster, superintendent of the Marion County Board of Developmental Disabilities, said of Schneider’s appointment. “Todd has supported us in many ways over the years as a faithful volunteer and advocate. Having his energy and expertise on our board will undoubtedly strengthen our educational partnerships, community reach, and strategic goals.”

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Schneider is deeply rooted in community service. His involvement includes leadership roles with Marion Young Professionals, participation in Leadership Marion, volunteer work with organizations across the county, and serving as Master of Ceremonies for the MCBDD Golden Gala since 2023. He has also hosted an international exchange student and frequently officiates weddings—often at no cost—particularly for former students and local families.

When asked what he hopes to bring to the Board, Schneider shared:

“As the principal of Marion Harding High School, I bring firsthand experience in public education, leadership, and organizational decision-making. I work daily with students, families, staff, and community partners, which has strengthened my ability to listen, collaborate, and problem-solve in complex situations. I also bring a deep passion for supporting individuals with special needs, along with many years of volunteer service with the Board of DD. I hope to contribute a practical, person-centered, and family-focused perspective to the board, grounded in advocacy, accountability, and thoughtful long-term planning.”

Schneider noted that his motivation to serve stems from years of involvement with MCBDD and a strong belief in community advocacy:

“I have agreed to serve because of my strong belief in service and advocacy for individuals with developmental disabilities. Having volunteered with the Board of DD for many years, I have seen firsthand the impact these services have on individuals and families. The opportunity to now serve on the board excites me because it allows me to deepen that commitment, collaborate with others who share this passion, and help guide decisions that strengthen supports, resources, and opportunities for those we serve.”

A Marion-area resident, Schneider remains heavily involved in the local community and values opportunities to contribute and grow. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Leslie, and their two daughters, Layla and Ellie. He also enjoys time with friends, staying active, and supporting school and civic events. His personal and professional passions consistently reflect his dedication to service, relationship-building, and improving the quality of life for those around him.
